Bernie is a genre writer specialising in horror and thriller screenwriting and prose. She holds a Bachelor of Media from Murdoch University (Western Australia), multiple mentorships, and international competition placements (including two in the ScreenCraft Horror Screenplay Competition). She has previously been the Vice President of the Australasian Horror Writers' Association, and has been an active member for more than a decade. Bernie is the lead screenwriter of AVERSION (2026). She has also worked as a researcher on documentary projects for Joined Up Media, and continues to work as a notetaker for Sandpiper Entertainment. Screenwriting influences include Vince Gilligan, Bryan Fuller, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, David Lynch, and Jane Espenson. Her work has previously received consults from Guinevere Turner (scripted) and Kaaron Warren (prose). Bernie identifies as female, culturally diverse (Australian-Hungarian), disabled (hypermobility), and as a single parent.
